Ricky Varnado found his artistic roots at the age of five when he began drawing and sketching. Self taught at 16 he learned to play and eventually master the bass guitar. At 18 he enrolled in Southwest Junior College in Summit, Mississippi, majoring in
music while learning to play piano. He furthered his studies with 3 years of private lessons.
Ricky has performed with such greats as G.C. Cameron of “The Spinners”, Miki Howard (“Brides of Funkenstein”), Lillian Lilly (“lead vocalist for The Mississippi Mass Choir”), Lawrence Mathews and jazz pianist Roger Smith, just to name a few. He also spent 7 years performing at Hewlett Packard and Marriott Food Service in Roseville, California.
Today Ricky plays bass guitar and keyboards for the group ,Mt. Olivet Baptist Church as well as The Andy Stokes Band in Portland. He also lends his vocal talent to both and now is signed to SND RECORDS LLC. as an artist and producer/songwriter.
Ricky Varnado comes from a long line of musical talent including his parents, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles. Ricky is the uncle of the mega rap superstars “Snoop Doggy Dogg” and “Daz Dillinger”.
Currently SND and Ricky are producing the Gospel?R&B group Uncle Reo.
