The Varnado Bros.

 

The Varnado Brothers debut CD titled “Keep Movin’ On” is an uplifting and soulful mix of contemporary gospel music sure to move your spirit!

Born and raised in Magnolia Mississippi the Varnado Brothers began their musical career in 1978. Their accomplishments include opening for several major gospel groups in 45 states and numerous awards for talent shows. In 1984 they represented their home state in a performance at The World’s Fair in New Orleans, Louisiana and in 1995 performed on The Bobby Jones Gospel Show. The Varnado Brothers now reside in the beatiful state of Oregon.

Ricky Varnado found his artistic roots at the age of five when he began drawing and sketching. Self taught at 16 he learned to play and eventually master the bass guitar. At 18 he enrolled in Southwest Junior College in Summit, Mississippi, majoring in music while learning to play piano. He furthered his studies with 3 years of private lessons.

Ricky has performed with such greats as G.C. Cameron of “The Spinners”, Miki Howard (“Brides of Funkenstein”), Lillian Lilly (“lead vocalist for The Mississippi Mass Choir”), Lawrence Mathews and jazz pianist Roger Smith, just to name a few. He also spent 7 years performing at Hewlett Packard and Marriott Food Service in Roseville, California.

Today Ricky plays bass guitar and keyboards for the group ,Mt. Olivet Baptist Church as well as The Andy Stokes Band in Portland. He also lends his vocal talent to both and now is signed to SND RECORDS LLC. as an artist and producer/songwriter.

The Varnado Brothers come from a long line of musical talent including their parents, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles. Reo and Ricky are uncles to the mega rap superstars “Snoop Doggy Dogg” and “Daz Dillinger”.

Currently The Varnado Brothers are working on new material for their next CD.
